Research Summary

Motivated by the ubiquity of social decision-making across human societies and its critical role in social functioning as well as mental health, Dr Luo's primary academic interest is to understand the computational and neural mechanisms of social decision-making in humans. She utilizes game-theoretic and computational probes of mental processes combined with functional magnetic resonance imaging to tease apart and understand important processes of social decision-making.

Currently, she focuses on three main projects: 1) The role of self-control in social decision-making among adults. 2) The development of reward learning, cognitive control, and interpersonal inference in adolescents and their impact on social development. 3) Interventions such as cognitive training aiming at improving social decision-making.
